India has been witnessing just over 20,000 Covid-19 cases daily for the past few days. While India has been maintaining a robust vaccination drive, cases need to decline if India is to beat the pandemic and prevent a third wave. However, so far, the country has been succeeding in keeping a surge in cases at bay, with Kerala being the state where most of the cases are being reported in absolute numbers. Mizoram has also been reporting a high number of cases as compared to its population. While Kerala has seen a decline in absolute numbers of the past few days though the figures are still well above 10,000, Mizoram has seen a surge in cases instead. However, both the states have announced further relaxations in restrictions ahead of the festive season, which could trigger a sharp spike in cases and undo the advantage India has gained over the disease so far.
