Hundreds more Covid-19 cases confirmed today – here’s where

Another 644 coronavirus cases have been confirmed across the city and county today.

In Leicester, there were 309 new cases recorded while the remaining 335 were spread across Leicestershire.

In Charnwood, 72 cases were added to the rolling toll, in North West Leicestershire there were 66 cases.

Increases of more than 50 cases were reported in Blaby – 56, Hinckley and Bosworth – 52 and Harborough – 51.

There were 26 cases in Oadby and Wigston 12 in Melton.

The new cases, updated today at 4pm, mean that the total number of cases across the city and county since the start of the pandemic area by area are :

  • Leicester: 28,130
  • Blaby: 5,463
  • Charnwood: 9,604
  • Harborough: 3,897
  • Hinckley and Bosworth: 4,565
  • Melton: 2,030
  • North West Leicestershire: 4,285
  • Oadby and Wigston: 4,034

In other coronavirus news, Leicester is back on the list of top 100 areas with the highest infection rates.

Meanwhile, armed services staff have been drafted in to help at Leicester’s Hospitals as they remain under extreme pressure caused by the number of coronavirus patients.

The latest seven-day infection rates, area by area, are:

  • Leicester: 544 cases per 100,000 (1,927 cases in the last seven days)
  • Blaby: 432.4 cases per 100,000 (439)
  • Charnwood: 329.8 cases per 100,000 (613)
  • Harborough: 321.9 cases per 100,000 (302)
  • Hinckley and Bosworth: 362.4 cases per 100,000 (410)
  • Melton: 232.4 cases per 100,000 (119)
  • North West Leicestershire: 378.3 cases per 100,000 (392)
  • Oadby and Wigston: 396.4 cases per 100,000 (226)
