Johnny ‘The Jet’ Rodgers in ICU with COVID-19

Johnny “The Jet” Rodgers is in the hospital with COVID-19 and pneumonia, according to his business partner.

The 70-year-old is in the ICU. He has been hospitalized since Thanksgiving.

Doctors told him he has “turned the corner towards recovery.”

Friends said Rodgers is in good spirits.

Rodgers won the Heisman trophy on Dec. 5, 1972 and was the first wide-receiver to get the honor.

The College Football Hall of Famer was also the first Nebraska player to get the trophy.

He played for Nebraska between 1970 and 1972. After leaving Nebraska, he played in the Canadian Football League. He was later drafted in 1977 by the San Diego Chargers.
