COVID-19: Weld County case, testing and outbreak data for the week of Aug. 17

Weld County officials reported a total of 97,646 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began as of Tuesday, an increase of 481 from a week ago.

The county’s one-week average positive test rate is 9.52%, up from 9.35% last week. The Greeley area has the lowest rate in the county, 6.92%. Southwest Weld has the highest rate in the county, 14.74%.

The seven-day total COVID-19 hospitalization rate is 5.78 per 100,000 residents, up from 4.56 a week ago.

About 4.2% of patients in regional hospitals are COVID-19 patients, down from 5.5% the week prior.

The state health department reported nine active outbreaks this week in Weld County:

  6. Pelican Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center. Outbreak reported June 6.
  7. Good Samaritan Society Water Valley Senior Living Resort. Outbreak reported June 1.
  8. The Center at CenterPlace. Outbreak reported July 24.
  9. Fairacres Manor. Outbreak reported May 5.

The county reported 672 deaths due to COVID-19, an increase of one from the week prior. The state reported 720 deaths among Weld residents who had the virus, an increase of one from last week. The state also reported eight new deaths due to COVID-19 in Weld, for a total of 613.

The state’s one-week average positivity rate is 7.48%, according to state data. Mayo Clinic reports the national positivity rate is 16.4%.

Weld County reported 64.2% of the eligible population, including children 6 months and older, have been vaccinated with at least one dose as of Aug. 5. About 59.3% have been fully vaccinated. A total of 98,680 additional doses have been administered.

The state reports 75.26% of the 5-and-up population have been fully immunized. A total of 2,191,435 people have received additional doses.
